So I had Christmas for the first time with folks outside of my immediate family, And it went really well. I had a great Christmas.
So I was going to totally get down to business at home and get on with my to-do list for the month. I was going to clean the whole place. It was going to be epic.
But then I did something I never had done before. I was called in to work when I wasn’t previously scheduled.
That’s okay.30 DAYS OF FEAR is all about dealing and embracing the unexpected. so I worked today. I was reminded to start all of my habits early in the day. I’ll make sure to do that tomorrow.
I was exposed to the Christian comedian Tim Hawkins over the holiday. Honestly, I was expecting a lot of awkward clean jokes, but besides the occasional reference to his religion, his comedy was pretty mainstream (other than it wasn’t Jewish or Atheist) and I was finding it pretty funny.
I even saw a strong influence of Tom Lehrer:
As far as criticism goes, he does know his audience and caters to them. And he isn’t afraid to make something political, even though I personally find his politics repulsive. You can go find that stuff on your own. But it is something you have to actively look for. For the most part his stand up is very enjoyable and funny. It’s just instead of being vocal about being Atheist like George Carlin, he’s vocal about being Christian. And you know, I have no problems with that.
